Matt Trent

Matt Trent was born in Kyogle, NSW, Australia.

He received a Charles Wall Scholarship to study at the Royal Ballet School, London.

In 1991 he graduated into the Royal Ballet, Covent Garden.

Joining the Australian Ballet in 1994 he was promoted to Principal Artist during the Olympic Arts Festival. In 2007 Matt transferred into the Musical Theatre world where he performed in productions of Fiddler On the Roof ,Thoroughly Modern Millie and five Billy Elliot productions (including the Broadway Company.)  

For the Sydney Festival Matt was engaged as the Artist Liaison (Sylvie Guillem, Ralph Fiennes, Batsheva Dance, Shen Wei Arts and the Ballet Boyz), Artistic Advisor for The Musical Theatre Project and faculty for the Broadway Dreams Foundation, Atlanta GA.

Matt was the Special Events Coordinator and Chief Executive's Personal Assistant for BAFTA New York (2012), Executive Personal Assistant to Mr Anthony Grant, Director of Contemporary Art at Sotheby's New York (2013), Tony Award winning Choreographer/Director Christopher Wheeldon's Personal Assistant and Administration Manager & Associate with CMP Limited, London (2013-2017) Promotions Manager for Dance & Theater at G. Schirmer/Wise Music (2017-2020) and Studio Assistant for Story St Studio (2023).

In 2016, Trent Arts & Lifestyle Management : A boutique Lifestyle Management service for Artist's was launched in the West Village, NY and also included two years as the Innkeeper at The Parsonage guesthouse in Hayes Valley in San Francisco.

In January 2012 Stepping Stones- Matt Trent Photography was launched at the Blank_Space Gallery in Sydney. Photographic commissions to date have included A Chance To Dance (Legacy Productions & Ovation TV), Ice (a short film for the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival), Aspect Architecture (Queensland), MDM Dance Wear, Dance Spotlight (Martha Graham & Alvin Ailey Foundations DVD series)  Billy Elliot National USA tour, Junior Tours/Manhattan Tour & Travel, Love & Pride Jewelery, A+E Interiors, Canvas&Hyde  and An American In Paris musical 'behind the scenes', Broadway & Paris.
